Audi & Volkswagen - Fuel Filters

Your fuel filter is an integral part of the fuel delivery system. A clogged filter can cause all kinds of problems, from a rough running engine to leaving you stranded on the side of the road. Volkswagen suggests changing your filter every 50,000 km.

If you car has a stand alone fuel filter then it is advisable to replace it. This is a cost effective and easy part to service. Replace before tuning and every 50,000 km. Some modern vehicles have 'in tank' filters which require the whole filter and pump to be replaced which is not cost effective.

If you are running a diesel you must replace your filter more frequently.

Service & Maintenance Guide

Minor Service - Oil Service

Every 10k is a minor service - oil and filter. Do not follow the factory 15K and go 7k for tuned vehicles. Oil is cheap, engines are not!

Intermediate Service

Every 30k is an intermediate service - oil and filter, cabin filter & air filter, brake fluid flush, remote batteries.

Major Service

Every 60k is a major service - oil and filter, cabin filter & air filter, remote batteries, brake fluid flush, fuel filter, DSG gearbox oil and filter (unless automatic, manual, tiptronic or multitronic), spark plugs and haldex oil.

Additional: Water pump & timing belt and poly belt on belt driven engines should be done every 60k.

Intermediate Service

Every 90k is another intermediate service - same as 30k plus a poly belt / accessory belt.

Every 90k is another intermediate service - same as 30k plus a poly belt / accessory belt.

Replace Haldex fluid every 30k rather than 60k, Gearbox oil change at 40k for DSG is advised. Front and rear differential oils are "longlife" but replace every 60k to be safe.
